Miklós Soltész, state secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, is in Bulgaria to attend celebrations of the anniversary of Bulgaria’s liberation from Turkish rule on March 3, 1878.

He arrived in Sofia at the invitation of Valeri Simeonov, deputy speaker of the Bulgarian parliament, and Mariyana Nikolova, Bulgaria’s deputy PM. After talks with the two officials, Soltész told MTI that both countries had made a lot of efforts to help the ethnic Bulgarian community in Hungary, and made special mention of the Bulgarian government’s contributing one million euros to the construction of a “unique” Bulgarian municipal and education centre in Budapest. Soltész said that relations between the two governments are strong and hoped that the incumbent government could continue its work after Bulgaria’s parliamentary elections in April.
