The oncology and cardiology care at the Markhot Ferenc Teaching Hospital and Clinic in Eger will be improved with nearly four hundred million forints, the institution’s press officer told MTI.

According to Erzsébet Szegedi, modern diagnostic tools will be acquired from the approximately HUF 395 million tender funds, and personalized oncotherapy procedures will be developed. With their help, the efficiency of diagnosing and treating diseases improves – she added, indicating that the institution will thus be able to treat many more patients at a higher professional level than before, which will also reduce waiting lists.

She explained: the investment, expected to be completed by February of next year, will be realized as part of the Széchenyi 2020 program, with the non-refundable support of the Human Resources Development Operational Program (EFOP).

She also mentioned that the Eger hospital is the region’s top cardiology and oncology institution, which provides care for 90 percent of the Heves County population in both specialties. The institution receives patients with complicated and critical conditions, so the use of the most modern equipment and the continuous development of the equipment park are essential.
